Kids Skate Free!

Kids Skate Free is a program similar to Kids Bowl Free in which you register online and are emailed a pass weekly.  The pass entitles the registered children to free skating (or bowling) at participating locations.  Currently (2016) the only skating rink in the area that you can take advantage of this is Austintown's Skate Zone.
Why not sign up today, skating sounds like a great way to get some exercise, beat the heat or chase away the rainy day blues.

Pittsburgh Skating Rink

Aspinwall Riverfront Park

facebook page

article-
Once it is open, hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Skaters can use the rink at no cost and at their own risk.
A schedule will be made to allow times for experienced and novice skaters. The area has lighting. A placard will be placed along Freeport Road to indicate when the rink is open.
Crookston said the area will have a fire pit and benches, and they hope to serve hot chocolate and other concessions. Organizers also are looking for donations of skates so people who don't have them can use them for free at the site.
“It'll be a great place. You can sit and watch the river and skate,” Crookston said.

Ice rink in Niles Waddell park

This ice rink is not over a body of water but it's cleared to allow a spot to skate around
