Akron Civic Theatre

****
The Akron Civic theatre offers free tours of the theater
one Tuesday a month at 12:00

You will learn the history of the theatre and some "behind the scenes" information. The tour is approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. No guarantee that the ghosts will show up...but you never know!

Please call 330-535-3179 to reserve your spot because it fills up quick!

Please note that this tour is more adult oriented and not advisable for children under 13 years of age. *

* My daughter toured the theater at age 5 and while she didn't fully appreciate it, she didn't mind at all.

Day out with Thomas the Train!

CVSR ticket link

This event is a must-do if there is a Thomas the Train fan in your house!

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

7100 Riverview Road
Peninsula, Ohio 44264

We went in 2008 and this is how it was set up:

There is a little map and if you get a stamp at the 4 locations you get a prize. There are quite a few tents-

a viewing area (has Thomas episodes on a TV)
an imagination tent (has a coloring station, stamping station, a couple of train tables and a big lego Thomas, it gets very crowded in here)
a food tent (reasonably priced)
a diaper changing tent
a magician tent
a meet & greet Sir Topham Hat tent
a nice petting zoo
a maze
the marketplace (every imaginable item, scrapbook kits, scrapbook sets/pages, toothbrushes, t-shirts around $ 13, toys about regular retail)
a climb through an inflatable train
a CVSR tent with a model train set-up

After the train ride they have a photo-op with Thomas, you can use your own camera, their prints are about $15 a sheet and are available online.

It's really a great event, you really could spend all day there. My son and husband went on the train ride while my daughter and I visited the animals.  As the train ride is pretty short (15-20 minutes?) and my daughter wasn't a Thomas fan, I'm glad we only bought 2 tickets for the train ride.
