Joy cone tour
Those ice cream cones you enjoy at Dairy Queen and McDonald's are made in nearby Hermitage, PA. Our scout group recently took a very interesting tour of their facilities.
After you are set up with hair (and beard) nets, you'll learn about the different style & shape cones they make while you are surrounded by boxes upon boxes of ice cream cones. You'll be amazed to learn how many cones they make in a day! From there, you'll be taken into the production areas where you'll be able to marvel at the process. At the end of the tour, you'll be treated to a ice cream cone as well as a box to take home!
Joy Cone
If your group is interested in taking a tour, here are some guidelines they'll ask you to follow...

2. All jewelry and wrist watches are to be removed ( a plain wedding band is permitted)
3. Leave handbags and backpacks in the car or lobby
4. No open toe shoes (sandals, flip flops, etc.)
5. No cameras in the production area.
6. Must stay with the tour guide.
7. No items in any pockets above the waist.
8. Restrooms ARE NOT open to the public. (there is a Sheetz just before the factory)
9. Must wear shirts/tops with sleeves, please make sure shirt is free of rhinestone design
Fall Heritage Days in Mespo
Mespo Fall Heritage Days
Come visit the heart of Amish Country. Our Fall Heritage Days Festival always takes place on the first Saturday in October, rain or shine. Festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.
The traditional, family centered festival features Amish and Yankee artisans, showcasing craftsmanship that harkens back to ways of old. Step back in time and enjoy the sights, scents and sounds of yesteryear!
This is a free event.
There will be opportunities to purchase hand-made goods and home-made foods, but there is no admission charge. Bring the whole family!
There will be Amish baked goods (including the locally famous hand-held "fry pies"), homemade ice cream, and sandwiches.
See rug weaving, quilting, soap making, apple cider brewing, apple butter making, blacksmithing, candle making, leather working treadle machine sewing, and other traditional crafts.
A vintage car show is also planned.
